Specialty Reforestation was purchased in 2021 from Teresa Seaton after the passing of her husband, Chuck, by Jay Chupp. Jay chose Specialty Reforestation because of the stellar reputation already established in the industry among customers, employees, and vendors. Recognizing that a company is only as good as its customers, employees, and vendors, Specialty Reforestation is proud to have dedicated employees, satisfied customers, and reliable vendors.
Specialty Reforestation has a unique history. What started out as food plot work, filling deer feeders, and plantation work evolved into herbicide spraying and tree planting. Once Chuck and Teresa introduced herbicide spraying with skidders, they went from spraying 1,000 acres per year to 12,000 acres per year.
Jay introduced a drone spraying application and looks forward to servicing more clients with fewer production interruptions due to heavy equipment downtime and repair. Drone spraying leaves the land undisturbed by heavy equipment which often leaves ruts in muddy areas. Drone spraying streamlines efficiencies, increases production, and creates a better work environment for employees.
Jay is focused on maintaining the positive relationships that Chuck and Teresa established while also aiming to further enhance the company's reputation and success in the industry. His background and qualifications make him well-prepared to lead Specialty Reforestation. His professional experience at IFCO as a Genetic Investment Advisor and at F&W Forestry as a Forestry Planning Analyst indicates his expertise in forestry and natural resource management. His educational background with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Management and a master's degree in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia further solidifies his knowledge in the field.
The fact that Jay is a registered Forester in Georgia and a certified Forester with the Society of American Foresters demonstrates his commitment to professional standards and ethics in forestry. His involvement in leadership roles within the Society of American Foresters as the Past President of his local chapter and Past Chair for the Georgia Chapter showcases his dedication to the forestry community and his willingness to contribute to its growth and development. Overall, Jay’s combination of education, experience, and active involvement in the forestry profession proves he is well-equipped to lead the company to continued success.
